Country at the Grammys
Did you spend all week wondering which country stars you missed on the Grammy awards or whether your favorite artist took home that award? Want to be in the know without having to spend four hours glued to your TV listening to performances you have no interest in? Have no fear, I've done the hard work for you.
The 58th annual Grammy Awards aired on February 16th at 8pm, where country music stole the show (okay, maybe that's just my opinion). Between Little Big Town and rising star Chris Stapleton taking home two awards each, Taylor's shade at Kanye, and an unexpected Carrie Underwood/Sam Hunt duet, the Grammys did not disappoint.
Country's Awards:
Best Country Solo Performance- Christ Stapleton's "Traveler," a well-deserved first Grammy award! Best Country Album- Chris Stapleton's "Traveler"
Best Country Duo/Group Performance- Little Big Town's "Girl Crush"
Best Country Song- Little Big Town's "Girl Crush"
Album of the Year- Taylor Swift's "1989" (if you're one of those who still consider her country)
Notable Performances:
This Sam Hunt, nominated for Best New Artist, and Carrie Underwood mash-up duet I can't get enough of.
Little Big Town performing their award-winning "Girl Crush"
Luke Bryan as part of the Lionel Ritchie Tribute
Chris Stapleton in a tribute to B.B. King
Non-Country Honorable Mentions:
Record of the Year- "Uptown Funk"
Song of the Year- Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud"
Taylor Swift's opening performance of "Out of the Woods"
I hope you feel like you can now contribute to the Grammy conversation in the break room. Country music will shine again in April with the airing of the Academy of Country Music Awards.
